License & attribution

Coloprice exists to be quoted. Our data is published under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International (CC BY 4.0) — you may copy, redistribute and adapt it, including commercially, as long as you credit the source. No permission request needed, no fee, no registration.

How to attribute

Copy this line, or any equivalent that names Coloprice and links back:

Source: Coloprice — https://coloprice.com (CC BY 4.0)

If you took a number from a specific page, link to that page rather than the homepage — it is more useful to your readers and it is where the figure will be updated.

What the licence covers

  • The compilation itself — selection, structure, normalization of prices to USD per kW of IT load per month, and the way sources are brought into one dataset.
  • Coloprice original data — the facility catalog, inter-market latency measurements, retail rack ranges and any figure whose source is given as “Coloprice”.
  • Our written explanations, methodology notes and glossary entries.

What it does not cover

We can only license what is ours. A large share of the figures on the statistics page and the Index comes from third-party research, and those rights are not ours to give away:

  • Figures attributed to third parties — CBRE, JLL, McKinsey, Dell’Oro, MarketsandMarkets, Grand View, Silicon Data, SemiAnalysis and others. We link each one to its origin; the rights stay with the original publisher and you should cite them directly.
  • Operator names, logos and trademarks.

In practice this is simple: every row shows its source. If the source is Coloprice, the licence applies. If the source is CBRE, JLL, McKinsey or anyone else, cite them — we link to the original on each data point precisely so you can.

Machine-readable

The licence is declared in the license field of the schema.org Dataset markup on the Index and the statistics page, and in llms.txt. Automated agents and AI search engines can read the terms without parsing this page.

Embedding instead of copying

If you want the numbers in your article to stay current, use the free embeddable index widget rather than pasting a static table. Attribution is built into it.
