Retail colocation prices: 1U, 2U, half rack and full rack
Retail colocation is bought by the unit, half rack or cabinet with power and a port bundled. These are the list prices operators publish on their own sites — 29 line items from 8 operators in 4 countries as of 2026-09-26. Operators that do not publish prices are not listed; that says nothing about their price level.
How much does 1U colocation cost per month?
Published 1U list prices run from $59 to $99 per month, typically with 1 A at 120 V (about 100 W) and a 1 Gbps port. A half rack (20–23U, about 2–3 kW) lists from $454, a full 42U cabinet with 2–5 kW from $600, and a two-cabinet cage from $2,499 per month. Setup fees, where published, range from zero to $2,250. Metered electricity above the included allowance is the usual extra.

What the colocation price includes — and what it does not
- Included in the base fee: rack or cabinet space, a committed power circuit, cooling, physical security, and usually a basic remote-hands allowance.
- Billed separately: metered electricity above the allowance (or a per-kWh rate on retail contracts), cross-connects, IP transit, additional remote hands, and one-off setup or installation fees.
- Wholesale contracts add annual escalators, ramp schedules and power-commitment minimums; retail contracts add overage rates and bandwidth caps. Compare providers on the same committed kW, density, term and connectivity.

FAQ
Why do wholesale and retail colocation prices look so different?
They price different things. Wholesale is $/kW of committed IT load on 3–15 year terms with electricity metered on top; retail is a fixed monthly fee per unit or cabinet with a small power allowance and a port bundled. A full cabinet at $600 per month with 2 kW works out near $300–700 per kW all-in, well above the $196 wholesale benchmark, because it includes power, port and service.
Which colocation market is the most expensive?
Singapore, at $403 per kW per month (H2 2025 – Q2 2026), followed by Hong Kong ($295) and Tokyo ($280). Singapore's capacity is rationed through government allocation, so vacancy stays near zero and asking rents stay roughly double the North American average.
Are these prices quotes I can hold an operator to?
No. Wholesale figures are published broker benchmarks for asking rents; retail figures are operators' own list prices on the check date and can change or be limited in availability. Use them to set expectations and to check a quote, then request a proposal for your exact power, space, term and connectivity.
How is the retail price list built?
Only from rate cards operators publish on their own websites, recorded with the source URL and the date checked. Operators that quote on request are simply absent. No operator pays for inclusion, and the list is not a ranking.
How often are colocation prices updated here?
Wholesale benchmarks follow the quarterly release of the Colocation Price Index (Q3 2026); retail rate cards are re-checked with each release and when an operator changes its published price.
