Why prices sit where they do
The Gambia had no facilities in this catalog until 2026, when two data centres opened within months of each other. QGroup, a domestic conglomerate spanning telecom (QCell/Qanet), banking and construction, opened what it calls the country's first data centre inside its new QGroup House on Kairaba Avenue in Serekunda in April 2026. Two months later the government inaugurated a separate National Data Centre in Abuko to host the National Identity Management System (NIMS) database, built under a public-private partnership with Ghana's Margins ID Group. No public power tariff for data-centre customers has been identified from NAWEC, the national utility, or any Gambian government source, so no benchmark is published. The Gambia connects internationally via the ACE submarine cable landing in Banjul; commercial colocation was effectively nonexistent until these two 2026 openings.
