GDS Shenzhen 5 (SZ5)

SZ5 is a Shenzhen data center GDS acquired while still under construction in early 2017, adding 10,000 sqm of capacity that was reported as 50% pre-committed to an existing top customer at the time of acquisition. GDS said in its second-quarter 2017 results that SZ5 Phase 1 had come into service a full quarter ahead of the original schedule, one of several new facilities — alongside Shanghai 5 and Shanghai 6 — that the company was bringing online that year to meet accelerating demand for high-performance colocation capacity. GDS has not published a specific street address, power (MW) rating or tier certification for SZ5 in its subsequent disclosures; the facility is referenced in company filings only as part of the Shenzhen market, one of GDS's established Tier 1 metro markets in China alongside Beijing, Shanghai and Guangzhou. As with most of GDS's China portfolio, cooling is understood to be air-based unless the company states otherwise.
