Tencent Tianjin Binhai Data Center

Tencent opened this Binhai New Area facility in December 2010 as its first fully self-built super-large data center, on an initial footprint of about 40,000 sqm designed for 200,000 servers. By May 2018 the site had passed 100,000 servers in active use, which Tencent describes as the first time any single data center site in China reached that mark. The company's own sustainability materials say the site was among the first batch to receive China's MIIT National Green Data Center ("4A") designation, and that it became the first data center in China certified LEED v4 O+M Platinum. Tencent's ESG communications also cite waste-heat recovery and free-cooling programs at the site, part of a broader push it describes as "running on sunshine." As Tencent's original flagship self-built campus, Binhai anchored roughly a decade of growth before the company expanded to additional self-built hubs in Shanghai, Chongqing and Guizhou. Power capacity in MW and current total server count have not been disclosed in more recent company communications.
