Baidu Cloud Computing (Yangquan) Center

Baidu selected the Yangquan site in September 2011 and delivered phase 1 in September 2018, after which China Daily described the facility as Asia's largest single-site computing center by floor area, with phase 1 covering about 120,000 sqm. The company reported an annual PUE of 1.09 at delivery and roughly 6,000 racks (40A) supporting more than 160,000 servers, around 700,000 CPUs with over 3 million cores, and about 4,000 PB of storage capacity. Baidu's 2024 ESG report describes an HVDC, grid-direct power-supply architecture at Yangquan reaching 99.5% efficiency, which it calls a first of its kind, together with a wastewater-reuse cooling program. Phase 2 came substantially online in 2021-2022, expanding the site past 200,000 sqm in total planned build-out. Yangquan is Baidu founder Robin Li's home province, a framing repeated across most coverage of the project. The facility now anchors core compute for Baidu's Ernie/Wenxin large-model infrastructure. Power capacity in MW has not been published by the operator; a widely repeated "5A carbon-neutral data center" designation could not be independently verified against a primary MIIT/TGG document.
