SostraData DC01 sits near La Souterraine in Creuse, one of rural France's least densely populated départements, far from the country's usual Paris- and Marseille-centered colocation map. The 650 sqm facility was inaugurated in September 2019 by SostraData, a joint venture between data-center designer Atrium Data, Banque des Territoires (Caisse des Dépôts) and regional energy distributor Groupe Picoty — the same public-private model behind the operator's sister site in Saint-Jean-d'Angély. It holds about 80 racks and a modest 0.4 MW of IT power, reflecting its role serving regional public-sector and enterprise clients rather than hyperscale or wholesale demand. Since November 2022, Webaxys has run the site commercially as part of a five-location national network. The building carries Uptime Institute Tier IV certification for both Design Documents and Constructed Facility, an unusually high resilience rating for a data center of this size and location.
