Gabon's first purpose-built colocation facility opened in mid-2026, when pan-African operator ST Digital inaugurated a data center inside the Nkok Special Economic Zone, roughly 27 km from Libreville. Construction began with a groundbreaking in August 2025 under a memorandum with Gabon's Ministry of the Digital Economy, which secured preferential hosting rates for government-backed startups. The facility launched with a 65 sqm colocation white-space in its first phase, built for up to 3,000 physical servers on 1 MW of electrical capacity, fed by a 15 kV utility connection backed by diesel generators and UPS, with a share of consumption drawn from an on-site photovoltaic plant. ST Digital markets the site as Gabon's first "sovereign" Tier III-standard data center — a self-described rating, not an Uptime Institute or TIA-942 award. Direct connectivity to the ACE and SAT-3/WASC subsea cables positions it for banks, public administrations, telecom operators, industrials, fintechs and startups. It is ST Digital's third Central/West African site alongside its already-cataloged Douala (Cameroon) and Côte d'Ivoire facilities, and Gabon's second data center overall after the existing Moov Africa Gabon site in Libreville.
