Melita Data Centre

Melita, one of Malta's main telecom and internet providers, operates its primary data centre in the Madliena area of Is-Swieqi, which it markets as "Malta's only purpose-built data centre." The site covers a fully fenced footprint of roughly 10,000 sqm, making it, by the operator's own description, the largest facility on the island. Melita states the building is constructed to Tier III specifications, though this is a self-declared design standard rather than an independently audited Uptime Institute certification — no Melita facility appears in Uptime's public Malta registry. The centre holds ISO/IEC 27001 and PCI-DSS certification alongside ISO 45001 (occupational health and safety) and ISO 14001 (environmental management). Colocation is offered as part-rack, full-rack or private-suite deployments, with customers bringing their own equipment while Melita manages power, cooling, bandwidth and uptime. The site connects to mainland Europe via submarine cables routed through Sicily and onward to Milan. Melita does not publish IT power capacity, rack count or a year-opened date for the facility.
