Data City

Data City is the data centre of Moldtelecom, the state-owned incumbent fixed-line operator of the Republic of Moldova, and the only Moldovan facility whose operator documents it as owned infrastructure rather than resold capacity. It sits at str. Alba Iulia 77 in Chisinau, a location the operator says was chosen for stability, accessibility and seismic resistance, and it hosts Moldtelecom's own colocation, hosting, VPS and cloud video services as well as third-party equipment. Published service parameters are thin: redundant electrical supply, environmental control, continuous monitoring, controlled physical and logical access, and colocation described as scalable in space, installed power and connectivity. Moldtelecom states the site is built to Tier 3 international standards, but publishes no Uptime Institute or TIA-942 certificate, no IT load in megawatts, no rack or cabinet count and no white-space figure, so the Tier claim should be read as the operator's own design statement. For a buyer the strategic argument is jurisdictional rather than technical: data stays inside Moldova with an EU-candidate legal framework and short fibre routes to Romanian carrier infrastructure, while the country's electricity supply depends heavily on imports and on the Vulcanesti-Chisinau 400 kV interconnection with Romania.
