Lefdal Mine Datacenter

Lefdal Mine Datacenter occupies a former olivine mine on Norway's western coast near Måløy, converted into a large-scale, phased colocation facility. Rather than a single building, the data center is built out level by level inside the mountain, following IBM Level 3 construction standards referenced in the operator's own compliance documentation; the first phase achieved Uptime Institute Tier III design certification. The site is also certified to ISO 14001:2015, ISO 9001:2015, ISO 45001:2023 and ISO 27001:2023. Cooling draws on the adjacent fjord: cold water is pumped through heat exchangers into a closed freshwater circuit beneath a raised floor, and the operator also offers direct-liquid and immersion cooling for high-density deployments. Lefdal markets substantial long-term expansion headroom — up to 120,000 square meters of potential whitespace and 200 MW of eventual capacity, with a 60 MW expansion announced in 2024 — though it does not publish a single current operational power figure, so this catalog records power and floor space as unconfirmed rather than using the long-term targets.
