Equinix MC1 IBX

MC1 is Equinix's first data center in Oman, located in Barka, roughly 90 km from central Muscat, and marketed by the operator under the Muscat metro banner as a new regional interconnection hub. The two-story reinforced-concrete building is designed to Seismic Design Category 2B under the 1997 Universal Building Code, with double-interlock pre-action fire suppression and both aspirated and non-aspirated fire detection. Power distribution runs at 230V/400V with N+1 UPS redundancy and N+1 generator backup, and Equinix states a 43,000-liter fuel reserve for the generator plant rather than an hours-based autonomy figure. Minimum cabinet density is 4kVA, and cooling redundancy is N+1. Equinix does not publish total facility power, floor area or an opening date for MC1; the figures above are drawn from the operator's own technical-specification table. A second Omani site, SN1, operates further south in Salalah.
