LG Uplus is turning a former LG Display plot in Paju, about 31 km north of Seoul, into the hub of the LG group's 'One LG' AI infrastructure strategy. The telecom unit has been assembling land and buildings there since 2024 and on 31 July 2026 approved an additional KRW 1.3 trillion (about $910m) in funding, more than doubling its original KRW 615.6 billion pledge from May 2025 to a combined roughly $1.35 billion. The finished campus spans about 73,710 sqm and is designed for 200 MW of IT capacity and more than 100,000 servers, targeted for completion in 2027. The build folds in LG Electronics' liquid cooling technology and LG Energy Solution's high-density UPS batteries alongside LG Uplus's own operating expertise, positioning Paju as a vertically integrated showcase for group-wide AI hardware rather than a conventional wholesale colocation site. It adds to South Korea's telco-led AI buildout alongside SK Telecom's and KT's larger capacity commitments.
