OVIO Data Center Abovyan

Until Firebird arrived, this was the Armenian colocation market. GNC-ALFA CJSC, trading as OVIO, began the project in March 2023 and launched commercially in May 2024 in Abovyan, Kotayk Province, 16 km from Yerevan; the government included the investment in the Ministry of Economy's 'Infrastructure for Investments' programme. Published parameters are modest but concrete: 2 MW of total capacity, two independent 35 kV substation feeds, two Mitsubishi diesel generators, a Schneider Galaxy VL UPS in N+1, and 216 server cabinets across two machine rooms rated up to 5 kW each — a density ceiling that rules out modern AI racks. Cooling is Mitsubishi and Systemair units; fire suppression is gas-based (Chladon 227); access control uses biometrics and facial recognition with over 200 cameras. The Uptime Institute register lists the site under its client name GNC-ALFA CJSC with a Tier III Certification of Design Documents dated April 2025 and valid to 2027 — a design award, not a constructed-facility or operational certification, which matters when the operator markets the site as 'Armenia's only Tier III certified data center'. PCI DSS and ISO/IEC 27001, 27017 and 27018 certificates are published separately. OVIO's fibre reaches Armenia's borders with Georgia and Iran.
