Equinix CA1 is the company's only data centre in Canberra, acquired in 2018 as part of Equinix's AUD 1.035 billion purchase of the Australian operator Metronode from Ontario Teachers' Pension Plan, and renamed into Equinix's IBX naming scheme along with the rest of that portfolio. The building sits in the suburb of Mitchell and, given Canberra's role as the national capital, serves Australian federal government and defence-sector tenants, with access to the government's ICON dark-fibre network highlighted by Equinix as a differentiator for the site. Equinix publishes 577 sqm (about 6,211 sq ft) of colocation space at CA1 with N+1 redundancy across UPS and cooling systems, though it does not disclose an IT power capacity, year-opened date or rack count for the facility specifically, only portfolio-wide certification claims that apply across its global IBX network.
