Hamala Data Center is Batelco's third data center overall and the second in its portfolio to earn Uptime Institute Tier III certification, covering both design and build. The building sits on Road 1425 in Hamala, and offers 2.7 MW of total power capacity across 250 working racks spread over 12,236 sqm. At launch Batelco described it as the largest enterprise data center in the Kingdom of Bahrain, built to serve the government and enterprise customers that make up the bulk of the operator's colocation base — an early tenant was BENEFIT, the company behind Bahrain's national electronic funds transfer network, which signed to move its IT infrastructure into the facility. The site is backed by Batelco's 24/7 Network Operations Centre and sits alongside the operator's earlier, smaller data centers as part of a plan announced in 2017 to build a series of Tier III facilities supporting Bahrain's ambition to become a regional data hub.
