GDS Chongqing 1 (CQ1)

CQ1 is GDS's first data center in Chongqing, built on a greenfield site the company acquired directly from the Chongqing local government as part of its push into the Chengdu-Chongqing region, one of the four regional clusters GDS uses to organize its China portfolio alongside Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei, the Yangtze River Delta and the Greater Bay Area. GDS disclosed CQ1 with a net floor area of 8,640 sqm, construction beginning in the first quarter of 2021 and an expected service date in the second half of 2021, with the building reported as 50% pre-committed to an existing top customer at that time. Utilization data in GDS's first-quarter 2023 results confirms CQ1 Phase 1 was generating revenue by that point, indicating the facility had entered service. The remaining developable area on the Chongqing land parcel was, as of GDS's most recent public disclosure, held for future development. No power (MW) rating, tier certification or specific district address for CQ1 has been published.
