Tencent built this campus in the Shuitu High-Tech Ecological City area of Chongqing's Liangjiang New Area in two phases. Phase 1 began trial operation in June 2018 on about 150 mu of land, designed for 100,000 servers; phase 2, covering an additional 107 mu (about 71,300 sqm building area) at a reported RMB 4.5 billion investment, topped out its four buildings by January 2021 and was commissioned in 2022, adding another 100,000+ planned servers. Combined, Tencent describes the two phases as the largest single data center in western China, with capacity for more than 200,000 servers using its modular "T-block" construction technology. The campus holds China's MIIT National Green Data Center designation, and Tencent's own sustainability materials say it became the first Chongqing data center to run on 100% renewable electricity for a stretch from August to December 2021, backed by a 60-million-kWh renewable power purchase. Power capacity in MW has not been published by the operator.
