Chindata's Lingqiu campus, in Lingqiu County under Datong (Shanxi), opened on 25 October 2020 as what the company called Asia's largest single hyperscale data center — a single building with 50MW of IT capacity and individual server rooms exceeding 18MW each. Sited within the Taihang Mountain Energy and Information Technology Industrial Campus, part of Chindata's pan-Beijing cluster, the facility runs a self-developed chilled-water cooling system the operator credits with pushing PUE down to a claimed 1.13-1.16, alongside dual 110kV and 35kV power substations and access to dedicated renewable generation. Chindata says the design carries more than a dozen pending or granted patents. In February 2022 the surrounding Lingqiu Economic and Technological Development Park was designated a national new-industrialisation demonstration base. At least one building on the campus, Lingqiu Data Center Building-3, has been certified through Uptime Institute's Management & Operations Stamp of Approval program. The site gives Chindata a second pan-Beijing anchor alongside its Huailai (Zhangjiakou) cluster, aimed at the same large Chinese cloud and internet tenants.
