Datacom Orbit Data Centre

Orbit is Datacom Group's data centre in Albany, on Auckland's North Shore, one of four company-owned facilities in its New Zealand network alongside Kapua in Hamilton, Abel in Wellington and Gloucester in Christchurch. Datacom sited the facility in a geologically stable, flood-free area outside Auckland's volcanic field. The company describes Orbit as its flagship New Zealand colocation site, built out to 10 MW of power, and highlights sustainability as a design priority: the site uses an air-side economiser cooling system to cut energy use rather than mechanical chillers alone. Datacom positions Orbit for enterprises, cloud providers and IT resellers needing access to Auckland's corporate base and international submarine cable connectivity. The facility carries ISO 27001 information-security and PCI DSS certifications, an ISAE 3000 attestation, and an Uptime Institute Management & Operations Stamp of Approval that the Uptime Institute registry shows has been renewed six times, indicating sustained, actively managed operations rather than a one-time design certification.
