Why prices sit where they do

CDC Data Centres is the only operator disclosed in New Zealand, running three campuses around Auckland — Silverdale (22 MW, expected to grow past 60 MW), Hobsonville One (22 MW) and Hobsonville Two (54 MW) — for a combined 220 MW+, all operational and all air-cooled. CDC calls them Aotearoa New Zealand's first hyperscale data centres, built for national critical-infrastructure workloads, and holds Toitū net carbonzero certification on the cluster since each site's first year of operation; the operator was also the first hyperscale provider in the country to earn NVIDIA's DGX-Ready Data Center certification, which now covers its whole Australian and New Zealand portfolio. No published business electricity benchmark is tracked for New Zealand yet in this index — GlobalPetrolPrices does not publish a commercial rate for the market, only a residential one.
