Balboa Data Center

Balboa Data Center sits on Calle Gavilán in Balboa, in the Ancón district of Panama City, on the Pacific side of the Canal. Cable & Wireless Panamá, the C&W Business (Liberty Latin America) subsidiary, opened the site in 2004 as its first purpose-built data center in the country, predating the larger Panamá Pacífico facility it later built across the canal in Arraiján. The building totals roughly 756 sqm of technical space split across a ground floor and an upper floor, backed by two 1,144 kVA diesel generators in N+1 configuration and dual 225 kVA UPS strings on each level, with five days of fuel autonomy on site. Cable & Wireless markets the facility as built to a Tier III standard, though that claim is the operator's own and is not backed by an Uptime Institute certificate for this specific building (unlike the operator's newer Panamá Pacífico site). What is independently verifiable is a set of ISO management-system certifications covering information security, business continuity and quality management, plus PCI DSS compliance for payment-card workloads. The site serves as one of two Panama data centers underpinning C&W Business's wider regional network across Central America and the Caribbean.
