NTT Johannesburg 1 — Top 10 data centers in South Africa 2026
#8 of 26 · See the list →

Johannesburg 1, in Samrand, Centurion, is NTT Global Data Centers' first and only wholly owned facility in South Africa, offering 6,200 m² of data centre server space and a maximum IT load of 12 MW. The site runs two separate UPS systems (A- and B-supply) with N+1 redundancy, backed by an on-site substation delivering 20 MVA of power, and is carrier-neutral with redundant carrier meet-me-rooms. It sits in the same Samrand district as Africa Data Centres' JHB2 and Digital Parks Africa's Samrand campus, though the three are distinct, separately owned buildings. Notably, when NTT Data sold seven other South African data centres — assembled mostly from the legacy Dimension Data colocation estate — to Open Access Data Centres in a deal that closed at the end of 2025, Johannesburg 1 was explicitly excluded, remaining part of NTT's global Global Data Centers (GDC) operation.

  • 6,200 m² data centre server space, 12 MW maximum IT load
  • N+1 redundant UPS (A/B supply), 20 MVA on-site substation
  • Excluded from NTT's 2025 sale of 7 other SA sites to Open Access Data Centres
  • NTT's only wholly owned South African facility
