Why prices sit where they do

Sri Lanka's two catalog entries are its only Uptime Institute Tier III–certified data centers with both Design Documents and Constructed Facility awards: Dialog Broadband Networks' Malabe Data Center #2, marketed as the country's first Tier III–certified site, and state operator Sri Lanka Telecom's National Data Center in Pitipana, Homagama, opened in January 2018. Neither operator discloses IT power capacity or floor area. Business electricity runs $0.057/kWh (GlobalPetrolPrices, Dec 2025), one of the lower rates the catalog tracks in South Asia, set by the Public Utilities Commission of Sri Lanka with the state-owned Ceylon Electricity Board as the dominant distributor.
