EcoDataCenter 1 — Falun — Top 10 data centers in Sweden 2026
#8 of 28 · See the list →

EcoDataCenter built its first and headquarters campus in Falun, in Sweden's Dalarna region about 200 km northwest of Stockholm, marketing it as the world's first data center constructed with a wooden structural frame. The site has up to 80 MW of available power and is positioned by the operator for AI and HPC workloads, with a design PUE around 1.2. Power comes from a renewable mix the company states as 75% hydropower and 25% wind. Rather than rejecting waste heat, the facility runs a heat-recovery loop into Falun's combined heat and power plant, which converts the surplus energy into renewable pellet fuel - an approach EcoDataCenter positions as a circular-economy alternative to conventional data center cooling. The campus is certified to ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO/IEC 27001, and validated against the EN 50600 data center facilities standard. EcoDataCenter has since begun a larger second campus nearby in Borlänge as it scales its Dalarna-based, renewable-powered hosting business.
