Compass Datacenters began construction on its Loudoun County campus in May 2019, delivering an initial 6 MW building as the first phase of a site the operator says is planned to reach 500,000 sq ft and 75–79 MW of critical IT capacity across subsequent buildings. The campus sits in Loudoun County's Data Center Alley, the world's densest concentration of data center capacity, and Compass built it using the same prefabricated, hybrid air-cooled approach it applies across its US campuses, describing the design as using no water during normal operations and following zero-waste construction practices. At the time of the 2019 announcement, Compass said it had also recently acquired land in Phoenix and two other major US markets as part of the same expansion push that produced its Goodyear, El Mirage and other campuses. Compass's public disclosures for Loudoun County do not name individual buildings beyond the first 6 MW facility, give an exact street address, or list a third-party Uptime or TIA-942 certification for the site.
