Google Lenoir

Lenoir was Google's first data center in North Carolina, following a $1.2 billion investment announced in 2007 and construction that brought the site online in 2008. It remains one of Google's longest-running U.S. campuses and has anchored more than $4 billion in the company's cumulative North Carolina investment since. In 2015 Google signed a carbon-free energy agreement with Duke Energy covering the site, and the facility now draws in part on solar power under that arrangement. Google credits its North Carolina operations, centered on Lenoir, with $14.9 billion in economic activity generated for state businesses, nonprofits and developers in 2025, and says it has trained more than 512,000 North Carolinians through its Grow with Google digital-skills programs. The company has also given $5 million to North Carolina A&T University and logged more than 38,000 employee and contractor volunteer hours in the area since 2010. As with most of Google's older U.S. campuses, no power-capacity figure, building count or floor area has been published for the Lenoir site specifically.
