Omaha is one of three Nebraska communities where Google operates a data center, alongside its longer-running Papillion campus to the south and a Lincoln site, together described by Google as its Nebraska "data center communities." The Omaha facility was announced in 2022, and Google groups it with the other two sites in a cumulative Nebraska investment the company puts at more than $15 billion since 2019, including a further $1.2 billion in new investment across Lincoln, Omaha and Papillion announced in 2023. The state's power mix backing these campuses includes the High Banks Wind Energy Center, delivering capacity to Google since December 2023, and a 420 MW solar array with 680 MWh of battery storage under development in Pierce County for 2027.
