Hyperion is Meta's largest data center campus to date, under construction in Richland Parish in northeast Louisiana since the company broke ground in December 2024. Meta's own site describes a plan for 5 gigawatts of total compute capacity, of which more than 2 gigawatts is dedicated to training open-source large language models, backed by more than $50 billion in stated data-center investment in the state. Cooling uses a closed-loop glycol circulation system with dry cooling for most of the year rather than evaporative water cooling. Meta says the project will employ more than 7,500 skilled trades workers at peak construction and support 1,000 operational jobs once complete, with general contractors Mortenson, DPR Construction and Turner Construction Company. The company has structured the project partly through a joint venture with funds managed by Blue Owl Capital, and says its partnership with utility Entergy is expected to deliver $2.65 billion in customer savings over 20 years. As of Meta's own materials, no single completion date has been set for the full 5 GW build-out.
