C Spire Systems Operations Center Phase 1A

C Spire, a privately held regional telecom carrier based in Mississippi, built this data center at its Starkville campus and opened it in the fall of 2014. The initial phase, known as Phase 1A, covers about 23,800 sq ft on a 6.5-acre site and cost roughly $23 million to construct. Power comes from diesel generators plus multiple independent utility feeds delivering an estimated 1.5 MW, with redundant systems designed to give N+1 protection for critical loads. The facility earned Uptime Institute Tier III certification for both its design documents and its constructed facility, and C Spire markets it commercially as colocation, managed colocation and cloud infrastructure space for third-party customers rather than keeping it purely for internal telecom use. The site sits within the Thad Cochran Research, Technology and Economic Development Park adjoining Mississippi State University, giving it access to the university's fiber and research network. C Spire has discussed the potential for further expansion phases beyond 1A, though only this first phase has confirmed published construction and certification details.
