GDS (Cong ty Co phan Dich vu So lieu Toan cau / Global Data Service JSC), founded 06 March 2008, is a joint venture majority-owned by VNPT Group together with NTT Communications of Japan, alongside minority shareholders PTF (Post and Telecommunication Finance) and PTI (Post and Telecommunication Insurance). GDS builds and operates the Thang Long Data Center in Dong Anh district, on the outskirts of Hanoi, which began operations on 12 April 2009 and provides more than 6,000 square meters of data-center space along with colocation and web/mail hosting services to hundreds of enterprise clients. The company markets the facility on VNPT's dense domestic network together with NTT's international connectivity through the Arcstar global private network. No independently audited Tier or TIA-942 certificate for the building specifically was found in GDS's own published materials.
