IC5 is one of two "bunker" facilities at Macquarie Data Centres' Canberra campus, built specifically for Australian Government workloads alongside sister site IC4. Construction began in July 2020 with an initial AU$17 million first stage delivering 1.5 MW, and the facility opened later that year; combined, the IC4/IC5 campus provides roughly 4 MW of IT capacity, though Macquarie does not disclose a separate figure for IC5 alone. The site is built toward SCEC Zone 5 security requirements, capable of housing workloads up to top-secret classification, with more than 200 government-cleared engineers supporting operations. IC5 carries ISO 27001, ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 management certifications, SSAE SOC 1 and 2 attestations, PCI DSS compliance, and is IRAP-assessed and DISP-accredited; the Australian Government also designates it Critical Infrastructure and Certified Strategic. Floor space is not published. As a purpose-built sovereign facility rather than a commercial colocation site, IC5 is not generally available to enterprise customers, distinguishing it from Macquarie's other Sydney and Canberra buildings that serve a broader hyperscale, wholesale and enterprise client base.

  • Opened 2020; first stage AU$17M investment delivering 1.5 MW
  • Built toward SCEC Zone 5 — can house workloads up to top-secret classification
  • ISO 27001/9001/14001/45001, SOC 1 & 2, PCI DSS, IRAP, DISP compliance stack
  • Paired with sister facility IC4 as Canberra's ~4 MW sovereign government campus
  • Purpose-built for Australian Government workloads, not general commercial colocation
