eStruxture CAL-2 — Top 10 data centers in Canada 2026
#7 of 68 · See the list →

eStruxture's CAL-2 sits at 149 High Plains Place in Balzac, a hamlet in Rocky View County just north of Calgary city limits, and is the operator's largest Alberta facility. The roughly 106,000 sq ft building carries 26 MW of total power capacity with support for 20 kW per cabinet as standard and up to 30 kW on request, aimed at high-density enterprise and cloud workloads rather than light colocation. eStruxture describes the site as designed to Tier III standards, a design-level claim rather than a completed Uptime Institute certification. Cooling uses high-density redundant modules suited to Alberta's cool climate, which — like Quebec — gives Prairie data centers a free-cooling advantage over southern US markets for much of the year. CAL-2 is one of three eStruxture buildings in the Calgary area, alongside the smaller CAL-1 inside city limits and CAL-3, a 90 MW facility under construction nearby in Rocky View County and targeted to open in fall 2026. eStruxture holds PCI DSS, SOC 1 Type II, SOC 2 Type II and ISO 27001:2013 certifications across its portfolio. Calgary's growing data center cluster benefits from Alberta's deregulated power market and proximity to renewable generation in the province.
