OVHcloud Beauharnois Campus

OVHcloud opened its Beauharnois campus, southwest of Montreal, in January 2012 inside a converted aluminium smelter previously operated by Rio Tinto Alcan - the company's first data center outside Europe and the anchor for its expansion into North and Latin America. By its 10th anniversary the campus hosted close to 90,000 servers, with the property engineered for roughly three times that number as OVHcloud keeps adding halls; the locations page it publishes lists eight data center buildings on the site. Power comes from Hydro-Quebec's grid, which runs on close to 98% hydroelectric generation, and the campus also houses one of OVHcloud's two server-manufacturing plants, where machines are assembled, repaired and reused to stretch service life to five-to-fifteen years. As at OVHcloud's other campuses, servers are cooled with the company's proprietary water-cooling loops rather than conventional air conditioning. OVHcloud has since expanded its Canadian footprint with a second campus near Toronto, in Cambridge, Ontario, which opened in 2024.
