EverWind, a Nova Scotia energy infrastructure company, announced on 16 October 2026 that it will build a data centre campus on its existing Point Tupper site in Richmond County. The company puts total investment above CA$10 billion, of which more than CA$8 billion is for the campus and about CA$2 billion for four onshore wind projects: Bear Lake, Windy Ridge, Kmtnuk and Upper Afton. The initial phase is 95 MW, targeted for late 2027, with a 325 MW expansion in 2028 for 420 MW at full build-out, all subject to commercial, technical and regulatory conditions. A long-term lease for the first phase is signed with an unnamed leading frontier AI developer; Anthropic has publicly said it signed its first Canadian data centre lease at the campus. Cooling is a sealed water-glycol closed loop, mainly air-cooled with water assistance in the hottest weather, using about 100,000 litres per day in phase one. Battery storage of several hundred MWh is planned, and the campus can reduce or stop grid draw when needed. The expansion will not connect to the grid until system studies and approvals are complete.
