OpCore PAR4

OpCore PAR4, at 58 Boulevard Lefebvre in Paris, is built inside Abri Lefebvre, a passive-defense shelter constructed between 1937 and 1939 to protect 90 people, sitting 26 meters below ground in a 17th-century quarry beneath 10 meters of protective limestone. Expanded during the Cold War in 1964 to shelter 300 people across 950 sqm, the bunker featured blast doors, an autonomous telephone exchange linked to other Parisian fallout shelters, and its own water supply; it stayed classified confidential until 1991 and then sat abandoned for two decades. Online SAS (Scaleway's parent) acquired the site in September 2012, deployed its first product — C14 cold storage — in 2016, and completed the conversion into a full availability zone by 2021, installing more than 100 tonnes of electrical equipment including batteries, UPS systems and transformers for autonomous operation. Scaleway's data center business was spun out as OpCore, jointly owned by Iliad Group and InfraVia Capital Partners, in July 2023. PAR4 is ISO 27001, ISO 50001 and ISO 14001 certified, with redundant air conditioning, VRV-based heat reuse to warm nearby buildings, and more than 30 carrier-neutral network operators on site.
