In Ivry-sur-Seine, just southeast of central Paris, independent hosting provider Aqua Ray operates Aurora IVY1, a data center built in 2012 and rebuilt from the ground up in 2020 to pursue a higher tier of reliability. The renovation paid off: in January 2021 the Uptime Institute certified the facility's design to Tier IV, which Aqua Ray describes as the first data center in the Greater Paris region to reach that level. The site runs on dual, independent electrical and cooling paths — a dedicated substation feeding UPS and diesel backup on two channels, paired with 2N+ air-conditioning units — behind roughly 100 kW of IT power spread across 56 rack bays. Aqua Ray added ISO 27001 information-security and HDS health-data-hosting certification in October 2022, extending the site beyond generic hosting toward regulated workloads. The operator lists third-party colocation customers on its own site, confirming Aurora IVY1 serves external clients rather than a single internal tenant.
