Colt DCS / RMZ Visakhapatnam Digital Campus

Andhra Pradesh's State Investment Promotion Committee has cleared a gigawatt-scale digital campus for Visakhapatnam, using the joint venture Colt Data Centre Services and Indian developer RMZ Corp formed in late 2024 to build data centers across India. Planned on roughly 200 acres in Jagannadhapuram, the campus targets 1.25 GW of eventual IT capacity at an investment reported at approximately INR 1.77 lakh crore (around $20 billion), delivered across five phases running from 2027 through 2036, with the first phase targeted for completion in just over three years. The project sits within RMZ's wider $10 billion Andhra Pradesh commitment, announced at the World Economic Forum in Davos in early 2026, which also covers industrial, logistics and mixed-use development in the state. Visakhapatnam's port access, coastal fiber landings and state government backing position it as an emerging alternative to Mumbai, Chennai and Hyderabad for hyperscale and AI-training capacity, though land acquisition, power procurement and phased construction timelines remain to be finalized before ground is broken.
