Google announced in October 2025 and reconfirmed through 2026 a roughly $15 billion commitment over five years (2026-2030) to build its first AI Hub in India, a gigawatt-scale data center campus near Visakhapatnam on Andhra Pradesh's east coast. The Andhra Pradesh government has allocated about 601 acres across three sites — Tarluvada, Rambilli and Adavivaram — for what will become Google's largest AI infrastructure investment outside the United States. Delivery is structured as a partnership rather than a Google-owned build: AdaniConneX, the data center joint venture between Adani and EdgeConneX, and telecom operator Bharti Airtel are handling infrastructure delivery, while Google brings the AI hub design and anchor tenancy. The project bundles compute with energy and connectivity: Google says it will work with partners on new transmission lines, clean energy generation and energy storage in Andhra Pradesh, and the hub includes a new international subsea cable gateway landing at Visakhapatnam that adds route diversity alongside existing landings in Mumbai and Chennai. Neither Google nor its partners have published an exact megawatt figure, land area per campus, or detailed phasing, and construction milestones have not yet been independently verified beyond the initial site allocation and government ceremonies. If delivered as announced, it would be one of the largest single AI infrastructure commitments in South Asia, positioned to serve Google Cloud, Search, YouTube and Workspace capacity needs alongside India's broader Viksit Bharat 2047 digital push.
