Compass Milan Campus (Noviglio)

Compass Datacenters entered the European market in August 2022 through a joint venture with global real estate firm Hines, acquiring land in Noviglio, a town in the Milan metropolitan area, for a campus the two companies describe as one of the largest data center developments in Italy. The project targets more than 48 MW of IT load across roughly 2.3 million sq ft of site area, with construction slated to begin in 2023; it was also Hines' first data center project in Europe. Compass and Hines cited Milan's network connectivity and its multiple submarine cable landing points as reasons for choosing the Noviglio site in what they called a supply-constrained local market, positioning the campus to serve hyperscale cloud customers expanding into Italy. Neither company has published a building count, phased delivery schedule, or third-party certification for the site, and Compass's own market-tracking page lists Milan without a disclosed final capacity figure beyond the original 48+ MW plan.
