Ishikari Renewable Energy Data Center #1

Tokyu Land's first Hokkaido data center leans entirely on the region's cold climate and renewable generation instead of grid decarbonization promises. Completed on 27 March 2026 in Ishikari City, north of Sapporo, the roughly 11,000 sqm building houses about 1,140 racks behind a 15 MW power receiving capacity, with select data halls starting partial operations in August 2026. Power comes from a dedicated 2 MW on-site plant plus 673 kW of rooftop solar within a purpose-built 'RE Zone,' connected to tenant halls over a private line so IT load can be matched against verifiable renewable generation rather than certificates alone. The project anchors a newly formed Ishikari Data Center Consortium that groups Tokyu Land with NTT East, Sakura Internet, Kyocera and several regional energy and telecom operators, aiming to turn Ishikari Bay New Port — an area with abundant renewable capacity and low seismic and flood risk — into a national-scale data center cluster. The site targets enterprise and cloud tenants seeking verifiably green capacity outside Tokyo's power-constrained metro.
