LGS1 was Rack Centre's founding data centre, operating in Lagos since 2013 and marketed by the operator as having run at 100% uptime since opening. In April 2017 it became the first facility in Nigeria and West Africa to receive Uptime Institute's Tier III Certification of Constructed Facility. The building provides 1.5 MW of IT load on an N+1 gas-fired power supply with N+1 cooling, across 1,094 m² of white space organised into 34 standard cabinets in caged space with a 47U rack unit capacity and two independent meet-me-rooms. Rack Centre positions the site as a carrier- and cloud-neutral colocation hub for Nigerian and regional enterprises, banks and network operators, holding ISO 9001, ISO 27001, ISO 22301, ISO 45001, PCI DSS, GDPR/NDPR and SOC 1 Type II attestations alongside the IFC EDGE green-building certification. LGS1 forms the first phase of what Rack Centre calls its Lagos Data Centre Campus, later expanded with the larger LGS2 building on the same site.
