Google Cedar Rapids

Cedar Rapids is a new Google data center campus announced in 2025, Google's second Iowa location after its long-running Council Bluffs site roughly 130 miles to the west. The company grouped the announcement with a $7 billion, two-year investment plan covering both the new Cedar Rapids build and further expansion at Council Bluffs, framed explicitly around growing demand for cloud and AI infrastructure. Google says its combined Iowa investment since 2007 now exceeds $20 billion, crediting Iowa operations with $2.7 billion in economic activity in 2025, and it has partnered with the Electrical Training Alliance on a program aimed at growing the state's electrical workforce pipeline by 95%. As with most Google campus announcements, no power-capacity figure, building count or completion date has been published for the Cedar Rapids site specifically; the company describes only the combined two-year, two-city investment total. Google's Iowa presence also includes a power agreement with NextEra Energy tied to reviving the state's sole nuclear plant.
