QTS Cedar Rapids

QTS Cedar Rapids is a data center campus under construction in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, within the Big Cedar Industrial Center at 6200 76th Ave SW. QTS says the campus will span 612 acres with up to seven buildings, and the project page lists three initial buildings, DC1, DC2 and DC3, as Units 100, 200 and 300 at that address. The operator describes a planned investment of $10 billion and calls it the largest economic development in the city's history, with more than 2,000 construction and permanent jobs expected and a $5 million skilled-trades training programme. Cooling is a closed-loop system that QTS says does not consume water for cooling, saving over 48 million gallons per data center per year. QTS also states that it will pay 100% of its own energy use so costs are not passed to ratepayers. Power capacity in MW, building sizes and delivery dates are not published, and no operating certifications apply yet.
