MIA-1 is Iron Mountain's first purpose-built data center in Florida, rising on a 3.4-acre site in northwest Miami about 8 miles from Miami International Airport. The operator designs the building to Tier III standards with diverse utility feeds and 26 MVA of total redundant operational power against 16 MW of customer IT load, and pitches the raised-floor data halls as GPU-ready for high-density AI deployments. Construction targets Category 5 hurricane-resistant design, a requirement in a market exposed to Atlantic storms, and the operator says it is building toward its standard global compliance program with BREEAM low-impact accreditation targeted rather than already certified. Iron Mountain frames MIA-1 as matched to 100% renewable energy on completion and as a carrier-neutral facility with diverse network entry points, positioning it to compete with the Equinix, NTT and Digital Realty presence already established in South Florida. As of its facility page, the project was still under construction with a 2026 completion target and no certifications yet finalized.
