A1 Telekom Austria opened its 'Next Generation Data Center' on Paukerwerkstraße in Vienna's Floridsdorf district on 5 December 2018, seventeen months after groundbreaking, in a project built with IBM at a reported cost of around €40 million. The building spans roughly 8,000 sqm in total, with 2,550 sqm dedicated to data center white space split across four server rooms. A1 states the site draws two independent 6 MW utility feeds and runs UPS output of up to 3.9 MW, with the design aligned to EN 50600 infrastructure standards; the operator's own materials describe this loosely as 'at least Tier 3,' which is design language rather than a formal Uptime Institute certification. Triple-redundant fiber routing is built into the site, with the operator citing capacity up to 17.6 Tbit/s. As Austria's largest fixed and mobile network operator, A1 uses the facility for its own network core alongside enterprise colocation customers, making it one of the largest single data centers operated by a national telecom incumbent in the country.
