MUC2 is a new carrier-neutral data center under construction on Portus Data Centers' Munich-area campus in Kirchheim bei München, next to the operator's existing MUC1 facility, with a groundbreaking ceremony attended by Bavarian deputy minister-president Hubert Aiwanger and Portus CEO Falk Weinreich. The operator targets ready-for-service in the first quarter of 2027, with 5.5 MW of critical IT load across 2,200 m² of white space spread over two floors, four standby generators and a redundant grid connection. Portus is designing the facility specifically for AI and HPC workloads, including ultra-high-density racks using liquid cooling, and targets a PUE of 1.2 or lower on 100% renewable power. As with the operator's other sites, marketing language describing the facility as a 'TIER 3' data center reflects Portus's own design intent rather than a completed Uptime Institute certification, since the building is still under construction.
