STT Palava 1

STT GDC India marked the groundbreaking of its third Mumbai-area campus in March 2026, this time in Palava, the Lodha-developed township sitting between Thane and Navi Mumbai. The site covers roughly 46 acres and is designed to scale toward approximately 400 MW of IT load over time, with a first phase bringing 50 MW online. The project sits under a wider memorandum ST Telemedia signed with the Maharashtra government covering up to INR 5,000 crore (about USD 540 million) of investment across the operator's Mumbai and Pune data center parks, expected to generate more than 500 direct jobs and roughly 2,000 indirect roles regionally. STT GDC frames Palava as purpose-built for AI and high-density computing, adding a third Mumbai-region location alongside its existing campuses and continuing an India expansion that already spans Chennai, Hyderabad and other metros under similar state-government MoUs. No completion date for the first phase had been published at groundbreaking, and detailed cooling and certification specifications were not yet disclosed. STT GDC's own live locations page confirms this building as "STT Palava 1" — the first of what are now three numbered buildings disclosed for the campus (Palava 4 and Palava 5 have since appeared on the operator's site at 60.5 MW each). Campus acreage is reported inconsistently across STT GDC's own materials: its Maharashtra MoU newsroom page cites just over 27 acres, while trade press describes roughly 46 acres — the two figures have not been reconciled.
