MBA1, marketed as Mombasa One, has been operational since 2017 on iColo's Miritini campus in Mombasa, before the operator's 2026 rebrand from iColo to Digital Realty. The building offers 580 sqm of total customer space across 250 racks, with more than 80 connectivity providers and three internet exchanges present on site. Digital Realty positions Miritini as a long-term campus rather than a single building: the operator states plans to expand the site to three data centers totaling 18,000 sqm, 13 MW of IT load and 1,800 racks, of which MBA1 and the larger MBA2 are the first two phases. As Kenya's main coastal city and the country's principal seaport, Mombasa also carries the landing points for several East African subsea cables, giving the campus a distinct connectivity role alongside Digital Realty's Nairobi (NBO1/NBO2) facilities further inland.
