Switch Datacenters AMS2 occupies a data center at Polanerbaan 1 in Woerden, roughly 25 km southeast of Amsterdam, that Switch acquired from IBM in 2014. The building was originally constructed as a bank's own data center and disaster recovery site, complete with 250 disaster-recovery workstations and 1,500 sqm of office space, before being converted into Tier 3 multi-tenant colocation. The total site covers 5,500 sqm, with 1,370 sqm of raised-floor space in the current phase and an optional 2,000 sqm second phase. Cooling is indirect adiabatic with N+2 redundancy and a cooling pPUE of 1.07, and the facility supports direct liquid cooling up to 50+ kW per rack for AI workloads alongside standard air-cooled cabinets. IT capacity is currently 1 MW, with Switch Datacenters planning to expand to 4 MW in 2026 and 14 MW by 2030. The site sits 2 meters above sea level in a low flood-risk area and includes 2N redundant power, Class 4 alarm monitoring and over 100 IP cameras.
